Carmel College signs MoU with Goa State Biodiversity Board

he Biodiversity
Research Cell of Carmel College for Arts, Science and Commerce for Women,
recently signed Memorandum of Understanding with the Goa State Biodiversity
Board. The signatories Dr Sr Maria Lizanne AC and Dr Pradip Sarmokadam agreed
to share their resources towards addressing the gaps in understanding the state
biodiversity and collaborate for the cause of conservation and sustainable
utilization of Goa’s biological resources. Member Secretary of the Goa State
Biodiversity Board also released a sanction order of grants for supporting
research project on ‘Diversity, distribution and conservation concerns of Bats
in Goa’ to be carried out by Dr Manoj Borkar and Pratiksha Sail, faculty
members in the Department of Zoology. Dr Sarmokadam also spoke on ‘Transparent
and Participatory Management of Biodiversity in the state of Goa. Sr Lizanne,
principal, highlighted the role of Carmel College in promoting eco-feminist
leadership and assured the State Biodiversity Board of proactive cooperation
for the cause of state’s biodiversity conservation
