With the aim of offering entertaining and educational films, thereby creating awareness and making the youth proactive in a creative manner, the ESG in association with Kala Kirti organised the Goa Environmental Film Festival 2018
ENVIRONMENT CONSERVATION THROUGH FILMS

 

The Entertainment Society of Goa in association

with Kala Kirti organised Goa Environmental Film Festival 2018 with the aim of spreading the message of the environmental awareness and also to inspire understanding of the environment through the power of films.

The festival’s goal was to offer entertaining and educational films that leaves attendees with increased awareness of environmental issues that we face locally and globally. There were two categories: Schools and Colleges at Goan level and Individual category at National level. While Schools and Colleges were given the subject ‘Beat the Plastic’ for their short films, the Individual category was given the subject ‘Environment’.

Prarthana Kaushik of Parvatibai Chowgule of Arts and Science (Autonomous) won the first place in the College category (Rs 10,000) for the film ‘Goal’.

In the School Category, Sahil Betigiri (Sharda Mandir School) won the first place (Rs 10,000) for the film ‘Synthetic’; Liberta Fernandes (St Michael’s Convent School) and Benedicta Miranda (Sanjay Centre for Special Education) both won the second place (Rs 2,500 each) for their films, ‘Beat the plastic before It Beats you’ and ‘Plastic Whale’, respectively.

In the Individual Category, Team Solkadi Films won first place (Rs 30,000) for the film ‘Where We headed To’ and the second place (Rs 30,000 each) was awarded to Yatheesh Nair for the film ‘It’s A Habit’ and Ashish Shah for ‘Metamorphosis.

The award ceremony was held on September 1, 2018 and the award winning films were screened during the Goa Environmental Festival 2018.
