Goan girl Scully wins ‘Miss Teen India 2015’

For Scully D’Souza, this title may have come as a surprise as she hardly had time to prepare for it, however, the confidence the title brought along, coupled with her fascination with fashion, is encouraging her towards a career in modelling

Some may call it chance, while others, destiny. Whatever the title, ‘it’ surely worked wonders for Scully D’Souza from Sangolda. Her proactive nature and inherent style won her the Miss Teen India 2015 title at a pageant organised by Alee Club in New Delhi. It might have been Scully’s debut into the world of modelling, but the young girl stole the show with her charisma and style.

Seventeen-year-old Scully D’Souza was crowned Miss Teen India 2015 at Talkatora Stadium, New Delhi, recently. There were over 5,000 contestants in the audition round, vying for the title. Scully, who is back in Goa, gives an overview of the event: “The audition round had 5,000 contestants, out of which, only three contestants made it to the Grand Finale round. The entire journey to becoming Miss Teen India was fabulous. I made friends with other contestants. There were gruelling sessions, from August 11 to August 24, that worked towards transforming us into professional models. We were lucky to have quite a few renowned choreographers and models as resource persons.”

Scully, who won the third place at last year’s Goencho Avaz contest organised by Herald Group, says, “I am passionate about singing and modelling. After last year’s experience at Goencho Avaz, I had a special appearance at this year’s edition of the singing contest as well. In fact, as my presence was required here, I missed reaching the Miss Teen India venue for one round; but I cleared that round via a Skype interview. I enjoyed the exhilaration of balancing both responsibilities. I aspire to become like Priyanka Chopra, who is a model, actor and singer.”

Sharing an interesting incident about how she happened to come across this contest, she states, “I was studying in Muscat and recently finished my studies in twelfth Commerce scoring 92 per cent, following which I came down to Goa in the month of May. It was in Goa that a friend I happened to see a poster on Facebook stating that Alee Club will be organising the 18th Miss & Mr Teen India 2015. Since I had a lot of free time on my hands, my friend insisted that I should give the pageant a try.”

The elated Scully shares how she was welcomed by fellow Goans on her return. “When I reached home, all my well wishers were happily bursting crackers. It was such a warm welcome and I was overwhelmed by their gesture,” she concludes.

Scully now has her heart set on winning Femina Miss Goa before heading for an international career.
