Goans to be awarded for their contribution to the field of art & culture

Today, February 8 will be a special day for
many Goans who will receive the Goa State Cultural Award and the Yuva Srujan
Puruskar for their contribution and achievements in their respective fields
like music, drama/tiatr, folk art, bhajan, kirtan, craft, literature, painting
etc. The awards are for the year 2022-23 and for those who have set an example
to the youth of Goa and are encouraging them by dedicating their life for
promotion and preservation of Art and Culture of the state. The awards ceremony
will be held at the ongoing Lokutsav festival at 4.30 pm at Darya Sangam, Kala
Academy, Panjim in the presence of special invitee renowned film actress,
Mrinal Kulkarni.
The Directorate of Art & Culture will honour 12 eminent
personalities in the field of Art & Culture by conferring the prestigious
‘Goa State Cultural Award’. The recipients are Ashwini Zambaulikar and Surya
Shetye in the field of Indian music, Linda Ailce Diniz Braganza for their
contribution in Western music, Jose Antonio Augusto Fernandes and Pedro Ciriaco
Barbosa in tiatr, Tulshidas Kavlekar and Gopal Raul for drama, Devidas Kadam
and Venkatesh alias Anil Kamat Shankhwalker for literature, Suresh Mayekar for
bhajan, Anita Kundaikar for folk art and Mauricio Fernandes for fine-art
(handicraft).
Pandurang Prasadik Natya Mandal, Sankhali will receive the Best
Cultural Institution Award 2022-23, Lokmanya Village Library, Opa, Khandepar,
Ponda, will receive the Goa State Best Library Award 2022-23 and Anjali Bhide,
librarian at SS Dempo College of Commerce and Economics, Cujira, will receive
the Goa State Best Librarian Award 2022-23.
Department of Art and Culture will also honour six Goan youth
with the Yuva Srujan Puraskar. The awardees are Yatin Shenvi Talaulikar for
music, Aarti Deepak Gaude for drama, Meena Helon Goes for tiatr, Mahesh A
Satarkar for folk art, Vasudev Shetye and Ganesh Shankar Shetkar for fine art
and photography.
The
chief guest for the award function will be Chief Minister Pramod Sawant and the
guest of honour will be Govind Gaude, Minister for Art and Culture, who will
present the awards in the presence of Menino D’Souza, secretary, Art and
Culture and Sagun Velip, Director of Art and Culture.
