Money matters over family?

Money matters over family?

Pio Esteves

The story revolves around Reagan (Eleuterio), who is a sarpanch in the village, his spouse Lucy (Crostina), a housewife and their only son Velber (Franky).

As the village sarpanch, Reagan knows the tactics of how to amass wealth illegally and his wife is always there to support him. Reagan is equally worried about his grown-up son, fearing he may go astray by lavishly spending the amassed wealth.

Reagan’s elder brother Marcos (Normandez) is happily married to Rosy (Mita) and they live a contented married life. But their only grief is that they are childless and cannot stand the humiliation.

Reagan cannot face his elder brother Marcos as he was responsible for imprisonment for his misdeed. Lucy equally supports her husband and at every pretext tries to humiliate her sister-in-law Rosy.

Marcos and Rosy decide to take Velber as their own as they don’t have their own children, but Reagan and Lucy are not willing to accept it. Instead, Marcos and his wife face all sorts of humiliation.

In preparation for the silver wedding anniversary, Reagan and Lucy make big

plans to celebrate with an invitation to all, except Marcos and Rosy. Fatimo (comedian David) is given the task to distribute the invitation cards.

With the sole intention of bringing in reconciliation and unity among the brothers, Fatimo invites Marcos and Rosy for the great day. Marcos and his wife are excited and never expected such a gesture.

At the anniversary celebration who is greeted and who is insulted is worth the watch on stage. What follows next in both the families is also the climax of the show.

Comedian Agostinho has scripted yet another tiatr ‘Sonvsar Chear Disancho kai Munis Chear Disancho?’ which calls for introspection. Greed for wealth and enmity among siblings of the family will lead a man to nowhere and one needs to reflect whether it’s the world or man of brief existence.

Eleuterio and Crostina play the role of guardians with ease. Normandez and Mita are equally good, thus extending good support to each other. Franky acts well as the spoiled brat. Benny de Aldona has played a convincing role of a priest.

For some laughter in between the acts, Mingueline (comedian Joyel) joins hands with Fatimo (David) and Caetan (Flavia) and they entertain together.

In the section of songs, comedian Joyel and David step in for the opening song, followed by solos from Tony de Ribandar, David, Benny de Aldona, Normandez and Franky. A solo on ‘Ros’ ceremony by

Franky is thought-provoking. Two solos by teenager Daniel are equally good. Queter and his musical team have provided good live music offstage.

The stage sets are by Anthony de Ambaji, while Ratna has handled the lights effectively.
