Fashion enthusiast Myra Silveira, who is also the proprietor of Sôsa’s, a well established designer boutique in Panjim, will host the second season of Flaunt your Fashion, over the weekend, at The Panjim Community Centre
Sharing the love for fashion with her uncle, Dr Abalio D’Souza, who first started the Sôsa’s boutique, Myra Silveira was left with the store after he passed away. She took it up as a challenge at a very young age and handled both, her studies and the store. Interacting with designers from all over India and continuing with the unique vibe of the store, Sôsa’s boutique continues to be the only multidesigner store in Goa.
‘Flaunt your Fashion’ was introduced last year by Sôsa’s in order to get designers from all over India, including the Goan designers, to come together with their innovative creations and display them to an audience. Speaking about her experience with last year’s event, Myra, the curator of the event, says that it was really difficult to set the idea of the main aim of the exhibition cum sale as it was a whole new concept. “Now that people are familiar with it, we expect a better response for season 2 of Flaunt your fashion,” she adds.
With better quality of the fashionable outfits and other goods, and the uniqueness of each of the pieces, Myra assures that ‘Flaunt your Fashion’ season 2 is going to be bigger and better. “The biggest new addition are the attires for men and kids, designed especially by our designers,” Myra states. She also says that more designers are available for women, providing them with a varied choice, which includes fusion of kurtis, western wear, cotton outfits and gowns and also Indian traditional wear with a slight twist. Along with the creativeness brought out of the designers, the main purpose of the event is to supply everything at the exhibition at a reasonable price, making it a pocket-friendly sale for Goan fashion lovers.
Myra calls out to the Goans to visit the Flaunt your Fashion, Season 2 exhibition cum sale for a choice of designer garments, apparels, accessories and bags at the Panjim Community Centre, Panjim on November 10 and 11, 2018, 11:30 am onwards. “If not to buy, then people should at least come to see and appreciate the innovative designs and styles of each designer present there,” she suggests.
“It is strictly a business, as it is for the designers to come out with their own unique and creative collections and sell them directly to their customers,” Myra says. “Knowing the efforts the designers have put in each of their fashion pieces, they can make their own decisions when customers bargain,” Myra says. The designers can interact directly with their customers and brief them out about the materials, and other things that are unique to their fashion works. In this way, the customer and the designer get to exchange their views, Myra believes.
“Each designer has a speciality, so 20-odd people out there with their fashionable goods at the exhibition will give the customers a wider variety to choose from, with good quality and at a reasonable price,” Myra explains, specifying that one designer will have funky bags with drawings imprinted on them available for sale.
‘Flaunt your fashion’ season 2 is a great platform especially for Goan fashion designers to work and display their unique abilities through the fashion artworks. Although the designers outside Goa are well tuned to avail of such opportunities, Myra is of the opinion that Goan fashion designers shouldn’t regard them as competition but rather as an inspiration. The main purpose of this exhibition is to build a good rapport between the customers and the designers. “Sales just happen when customers know that the products sold are of good quality and it is even better at our exhibition because of the pocket-friendly prices,” concludes Myra.
