‘Wavin’ Flag’ by K’naan was an
international football anthem, but ‘Wave
your Flag’ by the Six String Production is touching the hearts of Goans around
the world. The song was released on social media almost a week ago and has
received over 50,000 views on Youtube. ‘Wave Your Flag’, produced by Six String
Production, has become the Goan favourite anthem for the current season of
Indian Super League.
Georgie Dias, a musician and band member of the Runks,
conceptualised the song keeping in mind the love Goans have for football and
music. The song is directed by Josephfern D’Souza and Pankaj Karapurkar with
music arrangements by Georgie Dias and the musical talents of Sheldon Gomes,
Georgie Dias and Edelbert Azaredo. Jeslan Ferrao, Georgie Dias and Sabino Dias
are the lyricists of the song, which features the voices of Velroy Fernandes,
Jeslan Ferrao, Alison Gonsalves, Shunaina Baptista, Ancy Gonsalves, Georgie
Dias and Sabino Dias. Mixing and mastering is by Royston Noel. The song was
recorded at Veltuned Studio Goa. The cinematographer is Josephfern D’Souza and
Pankaj Karapurkar and editing has been done by Josephfern D’Souza. The dance
crew featured in the video is We Step Dance Crew and the video is powered by
Coca Cola and Loud Medics. The cast of the song includes Grizel D’Costa,
Celeste Fernandes, Mellernie Mendes, Seny Baretto, Swizel Cardozo, Siena Diniz,
Karol Soares and Franjoy Furtado, Joyston Costa, Noel Soares, Deitan Lewis,
Engelbert Azaredo and Clayton Rodrigues.
“We started working on the song keeping in mind the fact that
it’s been four seasons that FC Goa is trying hard to get the cup home. Hence,
the theme ‘Wave Your Flag’; it’s time to bring the cup home. Six String
Production is back with another football anthem this time for Forca Goa (ISL
2018). It took us approximately four days to complete the audio part of the
song and six days to complete the video, from shooting to editing. It was fun
but at the same time it was hectic as managing a huge team is no easy task.
Ultimately, the song turned out to be great and it’s doing well. As of now
we’ve got 50k views in a week’s time. I am hoping the excitement shown in the
song will give a little boost of energy to our team as it’s time to bleed blue
for our Gaurs,” says Georgie.
The video has been aesthetically shot with scenes of the beaches
of Goa and the serenity of the state, highlighting the passion of the
youngsters who love to play football, especially on the beach. Waving the orange
and blue flags of FC Goa through the villages of Goa, the video shows that the
love for the football team surpasses age and gender. The song is in English and
Konkani with a rap segment by Sabino Dias.
“We
believe music can convey our message. This song is more about us Goans and
Forca Goa and also the Goan spirit of football. We Step Dance Crew brought a
whole new vibe to the video and their energy was unbelievable. We’ve also hit a
huge number of viewers this time with this video compared to our previous video
‘Dispara La Meta’, which was created for the FIFA World Cup,” concludes
Georgie.
