Review:

It’s a love triangle, with marital and extra-marital ties encountered simultaneously. Sunny (Brijesh Kakodkar) is happily married to Sonika (Sonika). Sonika works for a private firm and is honest with all her assignments. Her boss (Pradeep Naik) is pleased with her performance and overtime duty and rewards her with a promotion. But she refuses, justifying that she needs to take a break, before confronting greater responsibility.

Sonika’s husband, Sunny is a photographer by profession and working for a firm. While on a duty to interview a film director, Lyra (Kerryann Albuquerque), he falls in love with her instantly. After getting involved with Lyra, Sunny fails to keep up to his promise of dining with his wife. There’s postponement at every instance, but Sonika bears it all patiently.

Now will Sunny be able to handle dual responsibilities efficiently? How does he tackle his wife back home and his girlfriend outside the residence? What are its dire consequences?

Under the banner ‘Vaibhav Productions’, the Konkani film ‘Fotting No.1’ has a fine script and sleek direction. There are moments of laughter intermingled with scenes that demand seriousness. With regards to performance, Brijesh has given a fine performance in the lead role. He has been ably assisted by Sonika and Kerryann, with good screen presence. In the supporting cast, Pradeep Naik and Prince Jacob dole out fine performances as heads of two

different firms.

Sahil (Rajdeep Naik) as friend of Sunny plays a confident character and wins audience appeal by his talk and laughs. He is portrayed more of a good Samaritan, but foreseeing monetary benefits in return for every good advice provided.

There’s Uday Salkar as the don, followed by comedian Agostinho and Luis Bachan as his bodyguards. But they appeared more as clowns rather than serious defenders. Uday, though in appearance looks to be a don, but falls short in his tone at dialogues. Other comedians on screen are comedian Selvy, Richard, Nato, who entertain by their cameo appearances and magical shoes on the dancing floor.

Bond Braganza and Roseferns also make a cameo as a doctor and priest respectively and both play convincing roles. Paresh Parab as the decorator makes a bold entry and his delivery reminds everyone about his hilarious episode ‘Just Imagine’. The visuals on screen are shot at places like Russia, Thailand, Malaysia, Bangkok and Goa. Some of the scenes are eye-catching and literally transport you to those destinations.

There are a couple of foot-tapping songs in the film with playback singers Aurville, Acacio, Elick Vaz, Shunaina and Elaine Pinto giving their best in renditions. Joywin Fernandes has done a fine job as far as script, direction, cinematography and editing is concerned.
