An evening of Konkani music will be celebrated with World Konkani Day- II being organi
sed in Margao today. In fact, a video by John D’SIlva announcing the event with the line up of artists has gone viral, making it the perfect invitation. Since this is the second edition of the festival, the organisers – RJ Joed Almeida and Stanley Marchon of Music Mafia – are optimistic of garnering a larger audience this year.“ Last year, the festival had an audience of nearly 1
,500 people and we are expecting more to come in this year. We thought of coming out with the video with John D’Silva announcing the date, time and venue to the audience and we were surprised when it went viral on social media. This year, we have added new artists to the line up,” says Joed, who formed Music Mafia with his school friend, Stanley. The idea behind the concert was to organise an event on World Konkani Day as it is the death anniversary of Shenoi Goembab who is known as the pioneer of modern Konkani literature. The artists include John D’Silva, Cielda Pereira, Sidharth Yaji, Gautami Hede, Krishna Signapurkar, Shaistah Thapar, Cyril Ferrao, Siddharth Cota, Carlos Gonsalves, Kenny and Ashish Raikar with
a live performance by Konkani Rock band Surya Chondrim Noketram. Nirvana Performing Company will perform Goan dances and showcase their dancing skills. The event will be hosted by Agnelo de Borim and will also feature Konkani songs in EDM music by DJs Seffie and Khaliffa.“ The show will have John D’Silva and Kenny with comedy acts and Nirvana Performing Company
will perform the welcome song with candles. Konkani Rock band Surya Chondrim Noketram will perform at least seven songs and Cielda will also woo the crowds,” he informs.Speaking about the special attraction for the evening, Joed add
s, “We will also have a raffle draw with the winner taking home a Mahindra Gusto. A food counter will also be open for authentic Goan food lovers.”World Konkani Day
