Toro Toro – Truly Tropical!

If you want to experience the true tropical essence of Goa, Toro Toro, Baga is your go to place. Overlooking the quaint and serene Baga creek, this place radiates ‘tropical’ from all corners. Those pineapple plants, flamingos, coconuts and martini glasses that adorn the walls, bring about vibrant vibes. And that wicker furniture in bright colours thrown in adds to the colour pop. On Friday evenings in particular, the place is buzzing around with people who enjoy live music along with their comfort food. The ambiance of the place is so beautiful that you won’t be able to stop clicking pictures, both of the place and yourself at the place!

Toro Toro typically is a multi-cuisine café bar that caters to the needs of various palates. From Sushi to Pastas, they have something to please everyone. Their caravan styled bar that is one of the most instagrammable spots of the restaurant, shakes some really cool cocktails and the seating around the bar with high stools is perfect for the younger crowd to sit by and enjoy some drinks while families can enjoy the other level of seating with some comfortable benches and chairs and tables.

Coming to food, seafood is a specialty at Toro Toro, so try it in any form and you will be delighted. From prawns, to fish to mud crabs, they have seafood across cuisines and this alone will make your visit worthwhile.

The menu is rather elaborate and will leave you scratching your head for some time, because most of the dishes lure you and you end up being confused. Try going with a bigger group, that way you can order and try more variety or ask their very hospitable staff for recommendations.

Our favourites included the Baked Fish Wrapped In Banana Leaf, Masala Fish Fry, Fish N Chips, Pulled Pork Bruschetta, Cottage Cheese in Xinghan Hot & Sour Sauce.

The baked fish, which had Asian flavours topped with pineapple salsa was a delight to taste – very tender and juicy, it almost melts in the mouth. The masala fish fry on the other hand had king fish coated in recheado masala and was shallow fried to perfection. The pulled pork bruschetta too was a delight and the cheese on top of it enhanced the overall flavours really well. The cottage cheese was so good that it could make you order a second helping almost instantly. And don’t forget to indulge in some desserts; the banana split sundae and chocolate fondant with vanilla ice cream deserve a special mention.

Toro Toro also serves a great breakfast, so whatever time of the day you wish to enjoy a good meal with a beautiful ambiance, Toro Toro should be on your list.
