When you put names like Rajdeep Naik, Swapnil Shetkar and Suchita Narvekar together in a movie, you are bound to expect a great movie in the making. ‘Questao de Confusao’ is no different. Right from its teaser to its trailer, the movie promises to be a rollercoaster ride of emotions revolving around the life of a common man living in Goa. However, the director of ‘Questao de Confusao’, Swapnil Shetkar says that the film has more than meets the eye and this mystery will be revealed when the film will be premiered on September 23, 2018 at Kala Academy, Panjim at 11am.

The maker of Konkani hit films like ‘Home Sweet Home’ and ‘Home Sweet Home 2’, Swapnil says, “‘Questao de Confusao’ is very different from what is seen in the trailer. The story is about two next door neighbours in a village who are having a family based rivalry for over five generations. The Hindu and Christian families, the Costas and the Gaonkars, include grandparents, parents and now the young sons, which indicate that the rivalry will continue. There is a constant competition, as each family tries to outdo the neighbours and the village enjoys their ‘questao’. However, the children play an important part as they are actually best friends but put up a facade in front of their families.”

He further adds, “The film reflects social themes like religious harmony and society and how beliefs and disbeliefs are created because of religion and then it is misused for different benefits. We had a great time shooting the film which was done in 15-20 days. The schedule had to be changed to accommodate the dates of the actors as they are theatre actors who had commitments. Everyone was very supportive but I must give credits to the talented child actors Ethan D’Souza and Chetanya Sujay Naik, who are six years old and they played their characters very well as Christ and Krishna.”

The cast includes Rajdeep Naik, Anil Pednekar, Gauri Kamat, Sharad Sakhardande, Anil Raikar, Reshama Naik, Antonette D’Souza, Spirit and Bunty. The music is by Rohan Naik, The story, concept and characters are by Suchita Narvekar and the screenplay by Swapnil Shetkar, Sai Panandikar and Ankit Kenny. The film is presented by Chetana Productions, Go Goa Gollywood and produced by Suchita Narvekar and directed by Swapnil Shetkar. Four promotional songs of the film were also released on social media which consists of a Konkani kantar, dindi, rap and a parody of famous Marathi tracks.

Rajdeep Naik is a popular stage and film actor and the chairman of Kala Chetna–Volvoi. After becoming a household name for his roles in Konkani hits films, he will be seen as a member of the Goankar family in ‘Questao de Confusao’. “The film has noted theatre actors who will be seen on the big screen like Anil Pednekar and Gauri Kamat, but the main focus of the movie is on the story. We have treated the story as the lead of the film. Also, for the first time in the history of Konkani cinema, two child actors are playing the lead roles. Ethan and Chetanya have done a wonderful job,” says Rajdeep.

The film will be released on September 28, 2018 at Inox, Panjim, Ravindra Bhavan, Curchorem, Kadamba Hall, Valpoi and Gram Panchayat Hall, Mardol. Instead of cinema lovers flocking to particular theatres, Rajdeep informs that the film will be screened in different theatres across Goa to attract more audience. “The story is of a common man and we want to reach out to the common man living in different parts of Goa. As tiatr is commercial in Goa and the crowds love watching movies as well, we wanted the same love coming from different communities. The story is about two communities as so we wnat botht he communities to sit together and enjoy the film,” says Rajdeep. The film will also be released in Vasco, Margao, Ponda and Bicholim.
