Tour of Goa, organised by Cycling Goa- Association, in its fourth edition, is all geared up to begin the robust exploration around the city, villages, valleys and beaches of Goa from February 1 to 3, 2019. Café has the details

Cycling Goa (CG), an association of Goan cyclists, was set

up with the aim of promoting cycling as a sport and healthy activity. Its founders, Bryan Soares, Dr Pankaj Mhatre, Riana Diaz, Vinayak Talavlekar, Terrance Moniz and Vinod Pai came together to promote cycling for a fit and healthy lifestyle. They also level in experiencing the little creations along a ride around the world.

An architect by profession but a cyclist by passion, Bryan Soares believes that the only time a person truly notices something is while riding a bicycle. According to Bryan, there are two types of cyclers – road cyclers and mountain cyclers. The road cyclers are all about speed and fitness but a person

cycling around natural settings is bound to have an entirely different experience.

Relating to his experience Bryan explains, “One fact that I often notice while riding the bicycle are the different emotions. I feel happy when I notice beauty in peculiar things, but extremely sad when I notice something like the garbage. These emotions are special, because it is something that we won’t notice travelling by a bike, car, or bus.”

Over the last few years, CG has been organising a signature event – ‘Tour of Goa’ – that helps cyclists to leisurely explore beautiful and alluring unvisited places of Goa.

In its fourth year now, Tour of Goa will last for three consecutive days with cyclers participating from Goa, Pune and Coimbatore; twenty-five will be a part of the classic cycling tour.

The tour will begin at 7 am and each day will cover a distance of 60 to 70 km. All 3 days will have a time trial (optional). On the first day, the cyclers will tour the interiors of the city of Panjim, traverse the ferry and riverside routes, and live in little huts after dark.

On the second day, the cyclers will ride along the countryside of diverse roads and valleys, visit sceneries like Netravali, have a nourishing lunch at a farm, and leave for a stay at Agonda.

On the last day of the event, the tour of Goa will cycle through Agonda, Cavelossim, Varca and wind up at the Three Kings slope in Velsao.
