#MeToo

negativity

Our newspapers are full of #MeToo moment. While some consider it brave for these actresses who opened up about their sexual harassment they faced at their work place and also fighting defamation cases put against them. Some of the accusations are false.

This moment might look great and made us women stand up for ourselves and fight against evil men doing us wrong.  But this moment also is bringing lot of negativity too. Not all men are sexual predators. We have men in our lives who have been taking care of us; given us lots of love care and protection and have a great respect for us. Due to this #MeToo movement we can't live in fear that all men are same and just like those actresses same thing will happen to us. so before feeling sorry for the women who are bravely talking about their experience.

Remember that not everyone should have a # Metoo movement. Though I am well aware that we all women go through sexual or even mental harassment on daily basis, one should not wait for 10 years or 15 years to talk about it. Talk about it openly to your loved ones or someone you trust.

And please don't take this #MeToo movement in a negative way. Not all men have evil minds.

Fish imports

A very important constituent of Goan diet is fish, and hence the major concern of the health ministry should be to safeguard us from exposure to carcinogens. Why is the Government not heeding to requests for the ban of fish imports? Why set up a Rs 15 crore lab, to test imported fish, when we can ban the fish imports. Our Government is already burdened with huge debts. A real no brainer for anyone with a honest agenda.

Cracking case

in quick time

The Goa Police needs to be complimented for cracking the alleged rape and murder case of a young woman at Old Goa within just 48 hours. It is understood that as many as 150 persons were interrogated in a span of two days, all available CCTV footage were viewed and analyzed and the entire area was searched for clues after which the police zeroed in on the murder accused.

It must be said that apprehending an accused, who has committed a serious crime, in quick time assumes significance as it gives very little opportunity for the culprit to make a getaway by leaving the state. The faster the police act, more are the chance of apprehending the culprit within the state and hence the co-ordination between various police stations assumes significance. If the accused leaves the state the task becomes that much tougher as the police will then have to co-ordinate with their counterparts from other states.

The Goa Police have done a tremendous job in this instance which has led to the cracking of the case in record time.

Dangerous

trend

Young people have their own ideology, ideas, perceptions, dreams and aims and they don’t want anyone to interfere in their efforts to achieve those goals. They refuse to listen to elders views on the choice of education, employment, profession, marriage as they think they are ministers of their own destiny and parents are the means and not the end.

Most young people believe that the duty of the parents ends with giving birth, providing education, food, clothing, support and guidance. Once they come of age only they can decide of their future. This is a dangerous trend as everyone will agree that young people have their own dreams and advice of their parents you people who try to fly high must not forget that they have to come to earth, which belongs to the parents.

National games:

Missed opportunity!

Despite postponing the holding of the Games in Goa umpteen times, the SAG and Sports Ministry are still sleeping. Finally, they now committed April 2019 to host the same, with many associations saying they cannot send their top athletes! This only after the threat of a Rs 10 crore fine!

Goa has not planned for any football infrastructure as they continue to use the grounds ‘hijacked’ from villagers for all their events. The SAG could have very well used this opportunity to make new structures which they could then morally lease out to AIFF or I-League clubs. With the kind of planning they exhibit, this is asking for Mars.

This shows more than anything that the SAG must return all hijacked village grounds to the rightful owners, the villagers: they are unfit to do justice to the same.

#MeToo campaign

unwarranted

I think the way women are going ga ga over the #MeToo campaign, seems as if these women have never committed any offence in their lives. History tells us that when people who were without sin were asked to cast the first stone on the woman who was caught for adultery, there was none to be found.

Then why single out this sexual immorality, why not expose cheaters, swindlers, domestic violators, liars, drunkards, selfish & others? Is their past life which is more accountable or their transformed present state? Was St Paul & King David commended for their past miserable immoral life or was it because of their transformation, which is the criteria for our salvation?

Rafale and all that

Rahul Gandhi may have started his political career as a raw hand but it looks as if with time and experience he could turn out to be a mature national politician.

I would request Rahul to look at Rafale deal from a  different angle. If, as they say, Anil Ambani is associated with purchase of Rafale military planes from D'Assault company. It looks as if Anil Ambani has a lot of military aviation expertise and it is possible that he could be  nominated for Nobel Prize in Physics next year, thus  bringing a great honour for India.
