Enjoying the timeless beauty of Goa

Bryce D’Souza

It has been three weeks past ever since I departed to Goa from the UAE for good. I still remember how on that particular day my family and I had taken all those suitcases to the airport but this time, it wasn't any normal trip we do undertake such as during the summer holidays or Christmas holidays but a journey back to our homeland here in Goa. I was sad at first, at the fact that we would have to leave permanently as I got so used to the place I was living that was in the UAE where we all lived in the city with everything in proximity. More sad than me was my sister, who even now still misses all her friends and sends them WhatsApp messages every now and then.

But now, after three weeks, I don't really feel sad anymore as I prefer it here in Goa, where you are exposed to nature, where you experience the beautiful bounties of what it is to live with numerous living beings, all of which are God's creation, none of which can be found in the city. This is what makes me happy as I get up from my bed each and every morning listening to the beautiful sounds of the birds, the cock crowing and so many other animals each with their own unique sounds.

Now it is the season of monsoons where one experience's heavy rains coupled with problem of power-cuts which for us youngsters is a real nuisance as it disrupts our usual checking of social media like WhatsApp, Facebook and Instagram.

It will take a lot of time to get used to getting ourselves wet in the rain, controlling our umbrellas against the angry monsoon winds, getting our feet wet and dirty as we trudge through the lush foliage, etc. All these will be first time experiences for us as we were not exposed to such vagaries of life in the UAE which was more of a desert type of climate and seldom did it rain.

Hopefully we all will get used to it as it will slowly become a part and parcel of our day to day lives here in Goa.
