“Nachom-ia Kumpasar”

My brother-in-law Tony took me for the wonderful film “Nachom-ia Kumpasar” (‘Let’s dance to the rhythm’). We settled down to watch it at Ravindra Bhavan, in Margao.
This story is told through Konkani songs; which has mesmerized crowds and have made many to see this musical triumph repeatedly without feeling tired about it.
The singer’s desire, to possess the trumpet musician ignited her dreams, fanning them into existence. Yes, temptation is very easy to give into, and near impossible to resist. The body craves pleasure and so does the mind. Passion of love is a biological fever; when you are possessed by biological energies, you no longer are your own master, but a slave; and this has been very well made known by songs which are linked to the story.
This emotion of love made the singer and the trumpeter lose their mental balance and they could not distinguish good and bad from proper angle. The chemistry of such emotional drama is witnessed in many households and is brought out by this film through songs. Yes, life is constant battle, constant struggle, and constant effort to be something in this world, economically, socially as well as inwardly. But one should keep in check unnatural growth of passing passions and balance one’s natural feelings amidst success and failure. Otherwise, the effect of the sensations of depression --- unpleasant and painful experiences, originated due to circumstances; enter into one’s mind and body. Then, life is full of sorrow, dishonesty, trickery as exposed in this film.
When one is unfolding a true story, he or she has to make the entertainment more pleasing to the public with minimum twist and imagination; therefore, there can be no pure originality in it but only narration. Originality, takes place from the know .e. g. The great Beethoven, Bach and others, acted from the known. Writers and philosophers have developed their own style from the known, which we all call creativity. Designers, builders, engineers, sculptors who build a marvelous structure or who carve a beautiful statue out of stone, have all based their art on the accumulated knowledge carried from the past to the present, so, there is no creativity out of the mind which comes out free from known. This is because, we start with the known and from that we create and we call it creativity. But true creativity is not man-made but God-made.
Many expect life to be fair. But “Life is not fair”. We see a child born disabled while another born very healthy. Life’s mysteries cannot be fully understood.
Bardroy and his team have done good work. I do not know Bardroy Baretto. But, after seeing this film, I have unbounded admiration for him.  I will not be wrong in advising my fellow Goans to see it to know that a good life can go astray by choice and not by destiny. Success or failure is one’s own making. The Lord has no share in deciding it. He has given everyone the free will. Each one decide one's own fate. Do good, get good; do bad get bad. Do not blame God.
