In a civilised world there is no shameful act than that of death in police custody and police highhandedness inside four walls of Police Stations. The assault on Navelim youth by a Margao Town Police Station PSI clearly reveals that goondas have infiltrated in Goa Police by wearing police uniforms to lash out their dadagiri and their uncivilised behaviours on innocent victims of State.
But what is pathetic is Goa Police higher-ups protecting the goonda by not registering a FIR for confinement and assault on Navelim man. The Govt hospital Medical report clearly says that the victim’s ear-drums are damaged due to assault by goonda in police uniform. So, it is clear cut crime which needs to be registered and investigated by SDPO rank police officer when victim approached with complain.
The new Goa Police DGP should not protect the criminals within Goa Police. He should also know that he is handling the most or top most corrupt department in Goa. A department where daily interference by politicians, their kin and even mistresses denied giving justice for those deserved.
Now, as per DGP, he said pending an inquiry by SP South is ordered against suspended cop for the assault. I want to ask DGP! Is this enough when someone badly assaults as to physically hurt the victim? Why until today FIR is not registered against the goonda cop and arrested him? What did the Supreme Court say DGP when people approach Police Station to register FIR? Are you aware of Supreme Court stricture against police not registering FIRs or pretending to know nothing thereby protecting goondas under your charge? If DGP does not know the law then please vacate the post. There are competent people at Valpoi. Don’t bring disgrace to the high post of Goa Police. The DGP is not for picnic in Goa.
In the past there were handful of custodial deaths in Goa Police of which some are convicted for shameful crime some left scot free due to politician’s interference. Those who are convicted somehow due to money power and politicians' interference even hoodwinked the Judiciary and are now walking the streets of Goa as if they are innocent for taking life of accused/victims they should had protect under their custody. Some are given promotions and are still active in Goa Police. By this, it sets a clear example to Goa Police personnel that they should do anything by wearing Police Uniforms as laws are not meant for them.
The victim now needs to approach the High Court against Goa Police under unfit DGP for not registering FIR against the policeman.
The police will try to approach them to make deal and close the matter but remember today it is a Navelim youth, tomorrow someone else will become victim of police atrocities and it will continue as goondas by through faulty/corrupt recruiting criteria had entered Goa Police with help of rogue politicians of State of Goa. Criminal proceeding needs to take place and the Goonda in Police Uniform needs to get convicted for his abuse of power as police officer.
