Hallelujah.... In the true sense

Jill Dale Rodrigues

In the wake of Christmas, festivities galore, I feel the true essence is slowly being lost over the actual and true meaning of Christmas.

You find a sudden crowd of tourists holidaying and making merry. For them, Christmas is about dances or other festivities. The true essence is slowly fading away. One of what keeps the true Christmas spirit alive is by serenading in trucks and spreading the good news of Jesus. The true meaning of why it is important to us too. Thus much work is done to make sure that this feast slowly is aimed at spreading the good news than by other gains.

The other purpose of this article was to highlight on a very recent viral video on how Comedian Bharti Singh, actress Raveena Tandon and famed choreographer Farah Khan were trolled or many have come out in the open to remind these 3 so called famed personalities, that a simple scroll or screen apology won't help to heal the wounds of the Christian faith with how they have poked fun at such a meaningful biblical word "HALLELUJAH".

At first, I didn’t really want to even watch the video as I knew from the short synopsis sent along with it, what would be the actual meaning of the video. Nevertheless I said, let me watch it and to my utter horror, comedian Bharti Singh has actually hit the sentiments of the word by trying to get in a very dirty meaning of the word, that truly hurt me personally so much that I mean, you feel you can simply get away with it due to your status and money power?

How many times the Catholic fraternity have been portrayed as fools in movies, drunk lovers or neighbours, still at some point it was always taken as a true entertainment reason. But when in Khamoshi a Cross was thrown in the sea a call was made to the Indian acting field to not hurt us. Yet time and again we are always targeted I believe since we do not believe in sheer violence.

In the recent case, let's give benefit of doubt that Bharti did not know the meaning of the word, but even after Farah Khan told her the actual meaning, what should have come out is an apology so to say, "sorry I did not know the meaning and been a mistake to associate it with a bad link/bad sense of humour" it clearly shows that Christianity is treated pretty low and I guess the true sense of the word is lost.

If such a thing had to happen with any other religion, God save us.

With so much of uneasiness happening around us, it's high time we learn to respect all religions just not the one we follow. You make a mistake accept it, don't try to wash your hands by trying to not only act ignorant or insult a religion/faith that you do not follow.

For now these 3 ladies need to realise even an apology would do no good to the harm they have caused by hurting the sentiments of the Christians all over the world, but I end my article by saying; "Lord forgive them, for they know not what they do."
