Making hay while the sun shines

Vincy Soares

This is with reference to the helmet rule imposed. It’s really not the lives that the Government is really concerned about, but the revenue that the Government is all bent upon collecting from the common man. They say that in order to save the lives of the two wheelers, they have to wear the helmets. Well, what about the pedestrians that get run over by the vehicles. What should the pedestrians wear?

What has been done to the agents outside the RTO office that charge the people money and pay all the respective officers to issue licences to people without proper knowledge of the traffic rules? What about the vehicle drivers who use mobiles while driving? What happens to the people that overtake from the left meet with an accident when the vehicle they are overtaking turn towards the left to avoid someone in the opposite direction? Why do all cars not have air bags installed?

That means all those who cannot afford expensive cars with air bags, should die and the rest live. Why should the trailers and big trucks come on the roads during day time? Why should they not be given a specific time from 8 am to 8 pm to be off the roads? Last but not the least.

The best way to avoid accidents by two-wheelers is by keeping a one metre lane on either side of every road for them. Any 4-wheeler going on this one metre lane should be fined heavily. Two wheelers should be fined if they are seen overtaking any other vehicle outside this one metre lane.

Wearing of helmets on the internal roads should be exempted as the speed is often minimum. How many accidents do occur on the internal roads? There are so many people meeting with accidents wearing helmets and when this happens, do they get any compensation from our so called government?

If not, WHY? Our traffic rules should be amended and before implementing any rule, the Government should ask the people. The Government is of the people for the people and by the people. Please do keep democracy in mind. This is a plea to the existing Government that rules the state according to what they feel is right.
