Need for planning

Natividade Fernandes

It is learnt that the state of Goa is going Mumbai way. Mumbai which once upon a time belonged to Kohlis and east Indians became congested due to the inflow of immigrants from other states and now at present the Kohlis and East Indians of Mumbai are the minorities in Mumbai.

I may be not wrong if I say Goa is facing the same problem. Due to the inflow of immigrants from other state Goa is getting congested and ethic Goans are on the way of becoming minorities whether he or she is a Hindu Christian or Muslim. And that day is not very far. So to avoid this to happen some plans have to come into force. So far nothing has been done too control this. Goa government is not only stagnant but it is not functioning at all. No planned decision for anything.

Secondly Goa is getting so congested that you see traffic jam at every nook and corner of Goa. PWD ministry is not having any plan to get this solved.  Since I am from Margao I would like to give one example. Old market circle is always congested on all four sides, even making use of signals did not solve the problem. I think the only way to get this solved is a flyover. Flyover is the need of the hour at this old market circle.

Thirdly all 40 MLAs are talking of resuming mining nut nobody mentioned about which mining they are in favour of. it seems they are favoring any type of mining, legal as well as illegal. We only say mining should start but only legal one and not the illegal ones. Illegal mining should be banned for life. Simultaneously, before starting legal mining, yes legal mining only, the problem faced by the people in mining area is to be solved first, such as dust in resident houses, children getting sick due to pollution in the air. All these problems should be tackled first before starting legal mining. Like this there are many problems to be tackled such as coal pollution, mining dust pollution, casino releasing sewage into the rivers and polluting river that problem, condition of Goan roads, contamination of fish, fruits and vegetables etc. So my humble request to Goa government please start planning for the betterment of the future of Goans that Goa doesn’t go in the Mumbai way and make Goans minority in their own land.
