Revival of Tourism Policy

Ashley Noronha

Goa is seen battling a host of issues which should be tackled this election year, which will be given an attentive ear by aspiring and potential MPs to be and others. Tourists footfalls witnessed at the fag end of 2023 has seen slight improvement in numbers during the two months of 2024. These could improve given the time, effort, and resources dedicated to high spenders attracting them in allurement with spell binding great offers demanding a second look by tourists for takes. Casino business being well entrenched in the Mandovi could be ostensibly regulated with on charter flights linked to them raking in potential high spenders to this ever-growing money spinner industry.

This would  benefit and make greater strides in generating growth in the national GDP, there by pulling out some sick industries linked to them out of the doldrums. Shipping industry could be developed further by building state of the art newer passenger shipping vessels to relieve the burgeoning  aviation, rail, and bus transport sectors ferrying hordes of potential high spenders to the state, the sheer joy of traveling by sea knows no bounds, especially for  those indulging and synthesizing on an enchanting sea voyage in one of those exotic liners, sailing  along the western coast of India.

Increasing connectivity by linking to other states and international ports, would  do wonders. Goa should venture into building some of those hybrid bullet trains traversing at supersonic speeds to cut down travel time by 50% which some high spenders love to explore and be attracted to with the  thrilling magic  moments it evokes. Dudhsagar waterfalls could be further developed  with all safety precautions in place for die  hard nature lovers.

The Mhadei connundrum could be sorted out for both parties in this election year with resolute assurances, of economic  benefits. Water sports should be made more robust with 100% safety norms knitted into this eye catching tourism infrastructure. Authentic old age Goan cuisine which have made historic strides in the past could be given a voracious appetizer boost with  an array of old exotic dishes long forgotten but which could be revived to attract and dazzle new varieties/species  of tourists. Music industry can always be fine tuned and cater to the tastes of certain segments of tourists who love certain rhythmic music of acoustic guitar sounds with base reverberating in a melodious atmosphere in renditions of gusty musical instruments. Initiative by the natural gas agency to deliver piped gas in parts of Goa will be a good and tactful infrastructure that would attract visitors in droves to witness and live out  the gas revolution, Goa has to offer in exquisite style in homes.

Goans have football in their blood but a little bit of cricket would do wonders in IPL encounters being held in form of more matches listed on Goan venues, attracting bountiful of high spending  visitors to the state, likewise  chess, tennis, billiards etc be given a boost driving the economy to greater heights. Goa shouldn't miss the bus to capture and revive it's tourism economy uplifting GDP higher levels .
