The Epitome Of Uncertainty

The Epitome Of Uncertainty

Bryce D’Souza

It has been about weeks and months the virtual classroom doors remain closed as the final end terms are almost coming to a closure and the monsoons have once again drawn in as the season has already begun, with heavy rain lashing to and fro in and around areas and places of Goa. An intolerable silence and anxiety fills the mind as the young adult lays there in the confinements of his house, waiting desperately and anxiously for the final exams to get over in hopes and aspirations to jumpstart into his dream career and ambitions that he has in mind to pursue in the near future.

A cloud of endless thoughts and gruesome worries fill the entire atmosphere, compounded with the stillness and solitude of the otherwise quiet and peaceful village exacerbated with the ongoing pandemic and dire sufferings that have characterised the climate all over the State and in all parts of the world. There is this constant and nagging uncertainty that today leaves us youngsters filled with lot of doubt and uncertainty over what lies ahead in the near future. It is really hard to imagine that the pandemic we had once thought would be over in the year 2020, has now extended to the current year we all live in and with rumours or hints of the third wave coming in and the arrival of the Delta variant, the anxiety of what lies ahead in the future has peaked at an all time high.

At the same time, it also raises some serious doubts and questions about the vaccines that have been manufactured and distributed to help combat the virus with new and advanced variants of the virus coming and spreading about in different parts of the world.

Despite the uncertainty and anxiety which has constituted a major part of our lives as youngsters, a lot of us have ventured out into or rather discovered some new talents and hobbies which we would otherwise not have discovered earlier had it been in the normal day circumstances or situations. A lot of people have ventured out into dancing, singing, photography, videography and there are some just like myself who have even gone into blogging. This really enthuses oneself as this has really shown the depths and densities of what human beings are truly capable of and inspiring others, thereby keeping up the positivity even in the current situations.

Regardless to the say, the circumstances have not yet changed- the fears of new versions of the virus dramatically impacting larger segments of the society and the economy have not been kept from further increasing, the demand for new oxygen ventilators and centres to cater to the COVID patients still remains at an all time high and to add to that the often at times careless citizen who often refuses to wear a facemask as a means of protecting himself or herself from the virus makes the situation even more fearsome and terrifying to the average dutiful citizen.

This has and is what characterises the current climate that we all live in as of today and this is what forms what I would refer to as 'The Epitome of Uncertainty' in our day to day lives.
