MARGAO: Stating that sewage connections are mandatory for all commercial establishments, Margao MLA Digambar Kamat has informed that the Margao Municipal Council (MMC) has been directed to issue notices to these units giving them 15 days time to apply for connections, failing which the PWD will take action, which may even include disconnecting water supply.

It is pertinent to note that households with water connections too have been asked to take the sewage connections failing which their water connections will be disconnected.

The Margao MLA was chairing a review meeting with officials of the Sewerage Development Corporation, PWD, MMC, and councillors. He informed that all the ongoing sewerage works in the town will be completed by May 30.

"The Sewage Development Corporation has promised to complete the work of laying pipelines and inspection of chambers by May 25. Similar works undertaken by the JICA in the town will be ready by May 20," he informed.

Kamat said, “A total of 337 applications have been received from Aquem of which 230 have already been sanctioned.”
