PANJIM: Observing major lacunae and procedural lapses in the formulation of the Outline Development Plans (ODPs) for Panjim, Calangute-Candolim, Ponda and Vasco, Town and Country Planning (TCP) Department has sent them back for redrafting before the respective Planning and Development Authorities (PDAs).

Herald, in November had reported about the TCP board decision to send the ODPs back to the PDAs to be re-drafted.

The decision was taken after the High Court of Bombay at Goa had stayed a letter issued by TCP putting in operation the draft ODP Calangute-Candolim 2025. The formulation of Panjim OPD, Margao and Ponda ODPs are also challenged before the High Court.

The Margao PDA has commenced the process to re-draft the new ODP, the process of drafting Calangute-Candolim ODP has been currently halted pending notification to constitute the Greater Panjim PDA.

“We had taken the decision in November to send all the ODPs back to their respective PDAs for re-drafting. Accordingly, we have done it,” TCP Minister Vijai Sardesai told Herald.

He said that following the High Court order, the department had taken the hint that there was some lacuna in the process of formulation of ODPs. “The procedures were not followed,” Sardessai said.
