CURCHOREM: Hundreds of revellers thronged Curchorem to catch a glimpse of the Carnival floats parade which commenced from the railway station and culminated at Kadamba bus stand after wending its way through the Curchorem market on Monday evening.

CURCHOREM: Hundreds of revellers thronged Curchorem to catch a glimpse of the Carnival floats parade which commenced from the railway station and culminated at Kadamba bus stand after wending its way through the Curchorem market on Monday evening.

The floats parade, which was organised by Centro Social Anjo Custodio (CSAC), in association with Goa Tourism and Curchorem-Cacora Municipal Council (CCMC), was flagged off by Sanvordem MLA and GSIDC Chairman Deepak Pauskar in the presence of GTDC Chairman and Curchorem MLA Nilesh Cabral, CCMC Chairperson Felix Fernandes, councillors and panch members.

The role of King Momo and Queen was played by George and Rita Fernandes respectively and around 72 professional floats besides local floats participated in the parade and “Goenchim Festam” by Quepem was centre of attraction among other floats in the traditional category. 

Besides "Goemchim Raponkar" ,another float showcasing various types of fish and traditional fisher flock was presented at the parade and other floats depicting Goan tradition and conveying various public interest messages also participated in the traditional, club/institution, family, clown/joker and fun/junk car rally categories.

Later a Konkani musical show, featuring Lenoy Gomendes and his troupe and other Konkani stage artistes, was staged at the KTC bus stand.
