MAPUSA: Goenkaracho Ekvot and Pilern Citizen Forum have demanded de-notification all the villages from the Regional Plan and scrapping of the Planning Development Authorities (PDAs) and Outline Development Plans (ODPs).

This demand was made at a joint meeting of the two activist groups on Sunday, wherein they claimed that the Regional Plan and the PDA were being forcibly and illegally imposed on the people.

Criticizing the TPC Minister Vijay Sardessai, Dattaram Naik said, “If Vijay Sardesai had been in the opposition, then, this kind of trouble would have not been faced by the people. We are concerned Goans who wants to save Goa and will not allow the TCP Minister to destroy Goa. This government is of the people, by the people and for the people.”

Social activist Rama Kankonkar appealed to the people to stand united to fight against PDA. “In the name of PDA, the TCP minister wants to finish off Goa. The TCP Act has to be amended to give the people the freedom to decide whether they want PDA or not in gram sabhas.”

Pilerne Citizen Forum President Prakash Bandodkar said, “PDAs and ODPs are forcibly being implemented to benefit the outsiders and not the Goans. The Goa Forward Party has not stood firm on their tagline of Goem, Goenkar and Goenkarpon."
