VASCO: The United Taximen Association (UTA), a union of the Yellow and Black taxi operators from Dabolim International Airport on Wednesday alleged that the newly launched car rental counter by Taj India Tours has been overcharging the passengers at the airport.

UTA president Sanjay Naik said they were shocked to see the receipt issued by the Taj India Tours to a passenger at Dabolim Airport.

“Today we managed to get a copy of receipt issued to a passenger through the new car rental counter. The passenger had hired their transport service till Arpora from Airport and he was charged Rs 2,000 while for same destination we charge only Rs 1,300,” Naik alleged.

He claimed that “This is like openly looting the tourists and the State government is deliberately allowing it to happen by turning a blind eye. Due to such overcharging, the name of Goan taxi drivers is getting spoiled. We demand that government should look into this overcharging by the new car rental counter.”
