CCP passes deficit budget of Rs 52 cr

Maximum expenditure in on salaries; Maintenance, road repairs get just Rs 5.50 crore

PANJIM: The Corporation City of Panjim (CCP) on Friday passed a deficit budget of Rs 52.88 crore against revenue receipts of Rs 47.69 crore for the coming financial year. However, the Corporation is hoping to recover outstanding taxes of Rs 26.70 crore.

In its budget for 2018-19, CCP has shown a maximum expenditure of Rs 24.35 crore for salaries while a provision of Rs 5.50 crore has been made for repair of roads and maintenance in all 30 wards. 

Expenditure on daily wages/contract workers is more than the developmental work and amounts to Rs 5.62 crore while pension contribution is of Rs 1.55 crore and retirement benefits of Rs 1.29 crore. 

CCP has shown maximum outstanding amount in house tax amounting to Rs 12.56 crore followed by outstanding rent of Rs 4.15 crore and trade license of Rs 3.44 crore.

During the meeting, the issue of digging of roads by telecom operators was raised by councillors who claimed that roads are being dug without permission. 

CCP resolved that 40 types of time bound services will start form April 1 where there will be no physical movement of files from one desk to other.
