Surprises everyone through his message during BJP booth convention addressed by party national president Amit Shah
PANJIM: Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar on Sunday through a video message announced his return in next few weeks.
This is the first video message of Chief Minister since March, when he was shifted to USA for advance medical treatment. Parrikar, who is been ailing since mid-February, is currently undergoing treatment in USA.
During the BJP booth convention, addressed by party national President Amit Shah, Chief Minister surprised everyone through his video message.
“I wish everyone present for the booth convention. I also welcome Amitji Shah, who is here to address the workers. Under Amit Shah leadership BJP has formed government in 21 states,” he said.
Parrikar informed people that due to his health condition, he was not able to be present amongst them for last two months. “For last two months, due to my health condition… for my treatment, I am outside the country and hence I was not able to be present today there,” he said.
“The treatment on me is getting success and I am confident that in next few weeks I will be able to there with you in full-swing,” Chief Minister said.
Urging his workers to start work for upcoming Lok Sabha election, Parrikar said that the coming year is very important as the forthcoming Lok Sabha elections will be held in April-May.
“We have to ensure that BJP wins both the seats- North and South with clear majority. We have to work to retain Narendra Modi-led government in power,” he said.
Parrikar assured the workers that he will be with them in the next few weeks to work for Lok Sabha election.
Later speaking, BJP National President Amit Shah remembered Parrikar and informed that before addressing the convention, he had a telephonic conversation with the latter.
“He (Parrikar) said I am missing all my booth workers. I told him you come back healthy we will hold bigger convention than this and I will be there to welcome you back,” Shah said adding ‘I also informed him that in his absence, the State administration is very much in touch with the Centre and BJP leaders here with Central leadership and there is no problem in coordination’.
Recalling the time when he worked with Parrikar when the latter was union defence minister, Shah termed Parrikar as “hardworking person with the grip on the administration.”
Shah said that Uri attack happened when Parrikar was the defence minister in which soldiers were burnt to death alive. “The entire country was shocked. Parrikar was then defence minister under the Prime ministership of Narendra Modi. Within 10 days, our soldiers went to PoK and took revenge of the attack through surgical strike,” he said.
“Post this, India is known worldwide for two identities -- a country before surgical strike and after the strike. After America and Israel, India is now counted amongst the nation which takes revenge of death of its soldiers,” he said.
