PANJIM: Three months after having being flown to the Unites States for treatment, Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar will return to Goa on Thursday night. The Chief Minister’s Office confirmed the arrival.

Sources reveal that the CM will chair a cabinet meeting on Friday. The meeting will approve the summoning of the Monsoon session of the State Assembly.

“The Chief Minister will chair a cabinet meeting on Friday. All the Ministers have been asked to be present for the meeting,” sources said, adding that Parrikar will also interact with the Cabinet Advisory Committee after the meeting.

Urban Development Minister and CAC member Francis D’Souza is currently in Portugal on a holiday.

Parrikar had been flown to the US on March 7 for treatment. From there, the Chief Minister was being updated daily by his Principal Secretary Krishnamurthy and Chief Secretary Dharmendra Sharma. He was also in touch with CAC members and had been clearing files.

Parrikar had also sent two video messages – one for the BJP’s booth level convention addressed by party president Amit Shah and the other to wish the people on Statehood Day.

The opposition Congress had been protesting demanding full-time chief minister for Goa alleging an administrative collapse in the absence of Parrikar.
