PANJIM: Accusing the Manohar Parrikar government of mishandling the iron ore mining issue and causing a loss of over Rs 50,000 crore, the Congress urged the Chief Minister to call for an all-party meeting to find a solution to the vexed mining problem.

Addressing media persons on Monday, GPCC President Shantaram Naik demanded that the government, with inputs from all political parties and stakeholders, prepare a road map to solve the ongoing mining crisis.

“The Mines Minister Manohar Parrikar should hang his head in shame for creating a mess of mining industry and for mishandling mining issue thereby causing loss of not less than Rs 50,000 crore. Government failed to convince the Supreme Court as what would be consequences of closure of mining industry,” the former MP said.
