GFP for early resumption of mining activities

PANJIM: Goa Forward Party (GFP) at its executive meeting has resolved that iron ore mining activities in the State should resume post the monsoon. 

The GFP executive on Tuesday discussed various issues, including simultaneous elections, CMP, mining, agriculture and town and country planning. 

Addressing media persons, GPF spokesperson Prashant Naik said the meeting resolved that mining should resume at the earliest. “At least after the monsoon season, mining activities should start in the State,” he said. 

Naik said the party is with the people dependent on the industry for their livelihood and is ensuring government works out an immediate solution to the crisis. 

Party vice president Dilip Prabhudesai said GFP reviewed the progress of the CMP. “All the three ministers were present for the meeting. We were happy over the progress of CMP and the way our Ministers are working,” he said. 

“The reclassification of coconut was one of the plank and we have achieved it within eight months of formation of government. Party is confident that all points of CMP will be implemented in the days to come,” Prabhudesai said.

The party welcomed Agriculture Minister Vijai Sardesai’s initiative of zero budget natural farming. “It is a concept of zero cost without the inputs of pesticides and fertilizers. It was also appreciated Minister’s view that agriculture should become the common minimum programme of Goans. We will see that agriculture is a main plank of Goa Forward Party,” Prabhudesai said.

The party urged Sardesai to amendment the TCP act to give justice to the people, whose lands are marked wrongfully in the name of RP21 rationalisation.
