PANJIM: Nearly 4,168 students will answer the Goa Common Entrance Test (GCET) on May 8 and 9 from 15 centres across the State.

This being the first year students will be answering GCET for admissions to engineering and pharmacy programmes the number of applicants has seen drop.

“All arrangements for GCET have been done. This year there is a direct drop of 1,200 students as they will be answering NEET. Students will only be answering GCET for admissions to engineering and pharmacy programmes,” Deputy Director (CAD) Pradip Kusnur said.

The State has also decided that aspirants for nursing and other allied health degree programmes across Goa should answer NEET as a result of which the biology paper in GCET has been discontinued.

The total number of seats available in Goa for engineering and pharmacy is 1,600 whereas for medicine the seats are 100 and for dentistry 40.
