MARGAO: A week after the water pipeline at Ambora began leaking, the Public Works Department is scheduled to start the repair works on Wednesday after allowing water to be wasted for a week and people in the vicinity probably receiving contaminated water.

Camorlim Sarpanch Basilio Fernandes disclosed that a week back water started leaking from the pipeline along the newly asphalted Ambora to Borim bridge road of the State Highway. “I had informed the water supply department and they kept promising to repair it but till date have not done so,” he lamented.

Basilio also pointed out that the department excavated the site at the leakage and water was now gushing out of the pipeline and mixing with water from the nearby field in the small water body that is formed due to the water leakage. However, nobody has tested the water supplied by the PWD to check whether it is polluted.
