MARGAO:  Four persons during their visit to the South Goa Collectorate on Wednesday had a harrowing experience after getting trapped inside an elevator for nearly an hour due to a power failure.

South Goa Collectorate building has several elevators. However, these elevators don’t have a power back up such as a generator and in case of a power failure there have been instances of visitors getting trapped inside these lifts and Wednesday’s episode was an account of such incidents.

However, the fire brigade personnel had to be called in getting the trapped persons out of the elevator.

This is another incident, a similar one occurred some months back wherein 6 people were trapped in two elevators.

The people have expressed their surprise that the collectorate building lacks power generator while even small establishments in the commercial capital have the same.

People have demanded that the government building, which is visited by several hundred people every day, should to have a power generator.
