Delay due to PWD lethargy in sanctioning fresh tenders for the electrical works
Inordinate delay by the PWD in sanctioning fresh tenders for the electrical works at the renovated Selaulim Irrigation Project Colony by the Agriculture Department have delayed the shifting of Sanguem Agriculture Department to the new place.
The new premises, which earlier housed the officers attached to the Selaulim Irrigation Project, were renovated by the Agriculture Department some six months ago. Zonal Agriculture Officer Samguem Kossambe informed that the department even obtained the water connection to the new premises. However, on account of the delay caused in issuing tenders by the PWD for electrical works, the shifting of the Sanguem office to the spacious premises stands delayed.
He said the PWD had earlier issued tender for the electrification work at the renovated premises, however, the same could not be executed on account of the GST prices.
The PWD is now reported to have completed the estimate of the electrical works at the new rates but the department is yet to float fresh tenders, informed sources.
It is pertinent to note here that the Agriculture Department at Sanguem presently stands housed in a rented premises located on the first floor in a building in the interior of Sanguem town.
The department is also not in a position to display various plants and new saplings which the department promote at regular intervals.
The shifting of the office to the new spacious premises also provides the much-needed space to display new saplings and farming equipments.
Kossambe informed that the PWD is expected to release fresh tenders soon and get the electrification work done. Till that time, the department will have to continue functioning from the rented premises at Sanguem.
