VALPOI: Velus village in Valpoi constituency has been facing water shortage since last two days.

When contacted, PWD officials said that they could not take up any work on Saturday and Sunday as they were official holidays.

A villager Shivaji Gaonkar said, “For the past two days, our taps are running dry. We have complained to the water supply department, but no one is bothered.”

“There is ‘Kalo Utsav’ on Monday in our village, but how we will be able to celebrate festival without water? Is this development?” a village woman Durgabai Veluskar asked.

“The government is thinking of sharing Mhadei water with Karnataka. But I request them to solve water shortage problem in Goa, first, and then think of sharing Mhadei water with Karnataka,” said Mahadev Gaonkar, another villager.
