Drug found in industrial unit belonging to BJP functionary; Factory gate sealed

VALPOI: Vijay Industries, which was raided by Revenue Intelligence Department on Monday night and where ketamine was found, belongs to Vasudev Parab general secretary of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) North Goa. Parab is one of the party’s oldest workers in Goa.

The raid that lasted almost 17 hours and began on Monday evening ended on Tuesday morning at Pissurlem IDC in Sattari.

Herald had reported on Tuesday that during the raid the Revenue Intelligence team, seized almost 100 kg of raw ketamine drugs, which has been valued at Rs 4 crore. 

The intelligence team interrogated almost 10 people, including Parab, the owner of Vijay Industries, his friends, family members and three youth from Calangute. The Calangute youth were taken into custody by the team on Tuesday morning.

When contacted Parab denied having anything to do with the ketamine found in the factory premises.

According to sources, the raiding team did not take the local police into confidence during the raid.

After the raid, on Tuesday morning, the Revenue Intelligence team called a Valpoi police official and in his presence sealed the main gate of the factory.

When local media persons attempted to contact the SP Revenue Intelligence team, he refused to comment on the raid and also didn’t allow the media persons to click pictures.
