‘Pai to Mhozo’ wins second prize, ‘Altoddcho’ takes third spot

Panjim: ‘Dista Toxem Nasta’, tiatr written and directed by Matias Mascarenhas and presented by Calangute Association, Calangute bagged the first prize of Rs 1,00,000 and a rolling trophy at the Kala Academy’s 42nd Tiatr ‘A’ Group Competition 2016-17.

‘Pai To Mhozo’, tiatr written and directed by Alfred Fernandes and presented by Alfi Art Productions, Divar won the second prize of Rs 75,000. ‘Altoddcho Sad’, tiatr written and directed Agnelo Fernandes and presented by Ami Daizi, Fatorda bagged the third prize of Rs 50,000 and tiatr ‘Good Bye Goa’ written by Peter Vaz, directed by Wilson Mazarello and presented by Taleigao Dramatic Troupe, Taleigao won the consolation prize of Rs 25,000. The other individual prizes are as follows: Best acting (Male): Ashwin D’Souza (first prize), Joaquim Almeida (second prize). Best acting (Female): Collisha D’Souza (first prize), Maria Fernandes (second prize). Best Comedian (Male): Mathew de Souza (Pai To Mhozo), Best Comedian (Female): Aveena Pereira (Pai To Mhozo), Best Child Artiste (Male): Flannan Ferrao (Pai To Mhozo)

Best Child Artiste (Female): Jlynna Fernandes (Freedom), Best Direction: Matias Mascarenhas (first prize), Alfredo Fernandes (second prize), Rupesh Jogle (third prize). Best setting: Agnelo Fernandes (Altoddcho Saad), Best light effects: Dhananjay Phalkar (Dista Toxem Nasta), Best Music (Band): Nolvert Cota, Dexter Furtado, Anton Azavedo, Luis Cota, Cannon D’Souza, Norman Cardozo, Xavier Fernandes. Best Make-Up: Tulsidas Naik (Boroinnar), Best Costumes: Ana Maria Cardozo (Dista Toxem Nasta)

Best Background Music: Sachin Chowgule (Savllechi Goroz). Best Singer (Male): Socorro Fernandes (first prize), P Agnelo Fernandes (second prize) Best Singer (Female): Shunaina Baptista (first prize), Livia da Silva (second prize). Best child singer (Male): Josiah Rebello Best Child Singer (Female): Simran Rodrigues. Best Choral: Suzeta Pereira, Jeffrey Viegas, Benjamin Victoria, Deepti Coutinho, Janice Gracias, Maise. Best Duet: P Agnelo Fernandes and Assenca Fernandes, Best Duo: John Rosario D’Souza and Jerry Britto, Best Trio: Nazario Pinto, Jesmond Clemente and Assenca Fernandes, Best Script: Tomazinho Cardozo (first prize), Alfredo Fernandes (second prize), Agnelo Fernandes (third prize).   

The judges for the competition were Premanand Sangoldkar, Satish Gawas and Aniceto Lourenco while Fr Nevel Gracias judged the tiatr scripts. 

The prizes were distributed at the hands of deputy chief minister, Francis D’Souza in the presence of Tiatr Academy Goa president, Agostinho Temudo and officials of Kala Academy. During the prize distribution ceremony, Olavo Rodrigues, Johnny B Good with Bushka and others entertained the audience with their songs. Manohar Bhingui kept the spectators in laughing mood with his mimicry.
