MARGAO: Raia is the first village to cut and bless the first corn every year. This ritual took place on Wednesday morning. Fr Valerian Vaz from Saligao seminary was the main celebrant at the mass. The blessing and cutting of the first corn at ‘Saibiniche Kongi’ was done by Fr along with other priests.
Fr Valerian in his homily stressed on our lady of Snows, faith, hope, and love towards others in need. He recalled how Mary accepted the will of God and the first miracle at Cana and called upon all to be like Mary.
Fr Valerian appreciated the parish priest Fr Conceicao for his spiritual and social work towards humanity. He also prayed to Our Lady of Snows to protest all from sickness especially during Covid pandemic.
Speaking on the occasion, Fr Conceicao D’Silva, parish priest of Our Lady of Snows church, Raia said that due to coronavirus the feast was celebrated in much more spiritual way by following the guidelines. He thanked all devotees present for obeying the orders.
Later the parish council members distributed the first corn shelves to all the wards of Raia.
