PANJIM: The State reported the ninth death due to COVID-19 on Thursday while 112 new cases were added to active cases taking the tally to 869 cases. For the second consecutive day, new cases crossed the 100-mark. 

The Health Department said that a 50-year-old male with co-morbid conditions from New Vaddem, Vasco succumbed to the infection. The man was admitted to the Goa Medical College and Hospital and was subsequently confirmed positive. 

Out of 3,831 samples taken for testing, 112 confirmed positive while 2,139 tested negative and reports of 1580 samples are awaited. With this the total active cases in Goa number 869, the confirmed cases are 2,151. 

The State also saw the recovery of 66 COVID-19 patients on Thursday, taking the total to 1,273 recoveries as on date. A total of 33 suspects are currently kept in isolation wards while 76 persons have been quarantined at various residencies/hotels.

As the infection continues to spread in various parts of the State, the Health department has also recorded isolated cases across 13 places.
