PANJIM:  A total of 11, 56,464 individuals are eligible to exercise their right to vote during the 2022 Goa Assembly elections, due in next month. 

As per the final list of voters published by the Chief Electoral Office (CEO) on Wednesday, 14,409 voters have been deleted from the electoral roll. 

Almost 30, 599 new names were added during the summary revision undertaken in the month of November, last year. There are 14,512 first time voters in the age of 18 to 19 years, while another 2,295 are 20 years of age. 

Of the total 11, 56,464 voters, the female voters are going to be the deciders with 5, 93,960 eligible to vote. There are 5, 62,500 male voters. North Goa has got 5, 39,420 eligible voters while there 6, 17,044 voters in South. The percentage change over previous roll is 1.24 per cent.

The CEO said that 7,536 names were deleted since they are dead. There were 93 missing voters, whose names have also been removed from the final voters list. The CEO also found 443 repeated voters, 6,202 who have shifted and 135 stood disqualified. All these names have been deleted.  Out of total 6,202 voters who opted for shifting, 3,996 shifted within Goa that is from one Assembly constituency to another. 

The CEO also identified 10,318 individuals with disabilities and another 30,038 senior citizen voters.

There are also 77 overseas electors enrolled. 

The CEO informed that there is 100 per cent photo coverage (General Electors) along with 100 per cent EPIC coverage. As per Electoral Law a person can be registered as a voter at only one place, CEO urged voters to check, if due to any error or due to legacy factors same person is registered at more than one place and share such information with the CEO by email or by filing Form 7 for deletion of such names. 

“It is a crime under law to have names at two different places,” said the CEO.
