PANJIM: When the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Joint Entrance Exam (JEE) (Advanced) results were declared on Sunday, it emerged that around fifteen students from Goa had managed to bag a rank, with two students topping in the first thousand in All India ranking.
The best two ranks were begged by Aditya Patki who stood at 747 and Deepak Gopalan who ranked 900, both from Mushtifund Aryaan Higher Secondary School. There are total eight students who have secured All India ranks in the first 7000 while there are seven who rank in the top 25,000.
Patki, who scored 192 out of 372 marks, is surprise to see him in the top 1000 students, considering that the papers were very tough. Now wanting to pursue his further studies from IIT Mumbai, for Patki his father Jayant is an idol.
“My father is also an engineer and I look at him as my icon. My family, teachers have always been supportive and I dedicate my success to them,” he said. Patki had stood third from the institute in the IIT JEE Main.
On the other hand Gopalan is one of the  topper at the Goa Common Entrance Test (GCET) in 2016.
Speaking to media persons, Principal of the institute Dr Vynkatesh Prabhudesai said that he is very happy with the performance of the students, as of the total 15, 13 are from his institution. “JEE advance papers this year were very tough. Toughest in last 15 years. Considering that, what my students have scored is remarkable,” he said.
Aby Jose, who had topped JEE Main, has secured 2183 rank, followed by Satyam Singh 4798, Anuj Kamat 6426, Vaman Neurekar 6528, Krishnaraj Pawooskar 6699 and Rajas Chari 6884.
Other students include Shaswati Shraddha 10400, Soham Agni 12059, Shubham Phal 14503, Cedric Martis (Margao) 16593, Manasi Paste 21073, Noel D’Souza (Margao) 23360 and Asmee Prabhu 24802.
As per information, only first eight students may qualify for a seat at an IIT, as the cut off is expected to stop an all India rank at 10,000.
“There are options available in form of IIT, BITS or NIT for these students,” Prabhudesai said.
