VASCO: The 24-hour-long Shree Damodar Bhajani Saptah celebration which kick-started on Friday afternoon concluded on Saturday afternoon, with the immersion of sreefal (coconut) in the Arabian Sea at Khariwada jetty.
The 118th Damodar Bhajani Saptah celebration had commenced on Friday with the offering of a new coconut to Lord Damodar. After performing rituals, devotees chanted ‘Bola Pundalik Varde Hari Vithal’ to begin the festival.
On Saturday shreefal, which was anointed before Lord Damodar last year, was taken in ‘Gopal Kala’ procession along with dindi from temple premises at around 12 noon to Khariwada fishing jetty accompanied by the beats of mridanga and taal and chanting of ‘Gopal Kala God Zala’.
The procession went from Swatantra Path, old taxi stand to T B Cunha Chowk via Mormugao municipal building and after the immersion the dindi troupes returned back to the temple for the final rituals.
Over 1500 stalls that have been erected as part of Saptah fair would continue to do their business for the next six days.
