PANJIM: From April 23, Directorate of Health Services (DHS) began to add to their daily COVID mortality bulletins, information that contained details whether the deceased had taken a vaccine dose or not.

A day prior to that on April 22, Goa Medical College (GMC) Dean Dr Shivanand Bandekar and Health Secretary Ravi Dhawan had stated that there had been no deaths of people who had taken a vaccine dose.

However, from April 23 onwards, barring two days, the mortality bulletins have reported 28 deaths of people who had taken the vaccine doses.

The first such death was reported in the April 24 mortality bulletin, where a 64-year-old, who had taken the first dose, had diabetes mellitus (DM). Thereafter on April 25, there was a 78-year-old man, who had taken the first dose but had no co-morbidities.

On April 27, there was a 71-year-old woman who had DM, hypertension (HTN) and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). The following day, there were four deaths. The first was a 58-year-old man who had DM, the second a 46-year-old man with DM and HTN, the third a 68-year-old woman with DM and HTN. All three had taken the first dose. The fourth was a 70-year-old man who had no co-morbidities and was vaccinated.

On April 29, there was a 61-year-old man who had DM & HTN, while on April 30, there was a 58-year-old man who had taken the first dose and had DM, HTN and chronic kidney disease (CKD).

On May 1, there were three deaths and all had taken the first dose. The first was a 52-year-old man had HTN plus Obstruction Sleep Apnea. The second was a 56-year-old man who had DM. The third was a 47-year-old man who had DM, HTN and nephropathy. 

On May 2, there was a 53-year-old man who had taken the first dose and had DM and HTN.

On May 3, there were three deaths and all three had taken the first dose. On was an 84-year-old woman who had hypertension, another was a 77-year-old who had DM plus old cerebrovascular accident (CVA), the third was a 57-year-old woman who had DM plus HT.

On May 4, there were three deaths and all had taken the first dose. The first was a 67-year-old woman who had HT plus ischemic heart disease (IHD), the second was a 65-year-old woman who had DM plus HT plus IHD status post (s/p) coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG) and the third was an 84-year-old woman who had DM plus HT. 

On May 5, there were nine such deaths. The first was a 54-year-old woman who had DM plus HTN. The second was a 95-year-old woman who had no co-morbidities. The third was an 80-year-old man who had HTN, the fourth a 57-year-old man who had HT, the fifth an 83-year-old man who had diabetes, the sixth a 66-year-old man who had no co-morbidity, the seventh a 53-year-old with DM. All had taken their first doses. The remaining two, had taken both doses. The first was a 63-year-old man who had HTN and the other was a 56-year-old man who had DM plus HTN.
