3 deaths, 202 new cases add  to COVID-19 tally

PANJIM: Three COVID-19 patients from Vasco, Ucassaim and Margao died in the last two days as the State’s death count reached 39. The three deaths included a recovered patient.

A 71-year-old man from Sada-Vasco, who was shifted from the COVID-19 hospital to MPT hospital (Covid care centre) had recovered. As per the Health Bulletin, the senior citizen died due to myocardial infarction on Wednesday. 

Another 56-year-old man from Ucassaim was brought dead at North District Hospital. His post-mortem sample for COVID-19 was found positive, whereas a 43-year-old woman from Margao who was admitted with intracerebellar bleed at a private hospital in the town was later found to be COVID-19. Both these deaths were reported on Tuesday.

The State also reported 202 positive cases on Wednesday, taking the total active cases to 1666, whereas 5489 are confirmed cases and 3784 COVID-19 patients have so far recovered.

The bulletin further states that of 7568 samples, 2185 were negative, 202 positive and 5181 reports are awaited.

A total of 35 patients have been kept in isolation wards while 68 people have been quarantined in different residencies/hotels.  

Of the active cases, Vasco urban health centre has reported the highest 403 cases followed by Cortalim Primary Health Centre that has 341 cases and Margao UHC has reported 108 cases. The State’s capital Panjim continues to see a surge in cases with altogether 61 reported until Wednesday.
