38 arrested for  trespassing, damaging casino in Baga

Mapusa: Calangute police arrested 38 persons including 5 women, 5 transgenders and 28 men for allegedly trespassing and damaging the La Calypso Casino located at Baga, Calangute on Thursday. 

Casino operator Shrinivas Nair (Atlantis Entertainment) claimed a loss of Rs 17.5 crore due to the attack.

According to police, the Control Room received a call at around 6.20 am on Thursday and immediately a team of Calangute police rushed to the spot and found 38 suspects who had allegedly trespassed into the casino and damaged the property. 

Police said the accused also molested 5 female staff of the casino. 

The complainant in a written complaint claimed a theft of around Rs 10 to 15 crore by way of casino chips and cash of around Rs 2.5 crore. 

Police said one Kaushal Khanna a businessman is one of the accused in the incident.

Police also claimed that all the accused are not residents of Goa. Police are also investigating the exact damage caused to the property. 

Police conducted the panchanama and have also recorded statement's of witnesses. However the exact motive of the attack is yet to be revealed.

Police have booked a case under Section 143, 147, 447, 323,341,342,427,380 and 354(A) IPC. Further investigation is being conducted. 

Meanwhile, sources informed that more than 50 people were involved in the attack.
