MAPUSA: Calangute Police on Friday arrested four persons namely Akbar Ali, aged 34 years, native of Kargil-Ladakh; Prana Jena, aged 40, a native of Odisha and one Neha Khatun, aged 23, a native of Kolkata, West Bengal in a prostitution racket busted at Dolphine Circle, Calangute.

According to the police, on early Friday morning, a team of Calangute Police accompanied by NGO member Andrea Pereira busted prostitution racket and rescued a female victim and arrested the three alleged accused persons. 

The accused persons are placed under arrest under Section 370 of IPC and Section 4, 5 and 7 of the Immoral Traffic (Prevention) Act for living on the earnings earned through prostitution activities in the vicinity of the public place.

Police Inspector Nolasco  Raposo informed that the alleged accused persons had brought a victim girl in a Hyundai i10 car near Dolphin Circle, Calangute in order to supply it to a prospective customer for the purpose of prostitution.

The victim female is lodged in the State Protective Home, Merces after obtaining necessary orders of the Deputy Collector, Bardez while the accused persons were produced before the JMFC court, Mapusa for police remand. Further investigation is on.
