Panjim: COVID-19 continues to claim lives with another six persons losing battle to the deadly virus within 24 hours. This takes the death toll to 268, as per the Health Department’s media bulletin on the status of COVID-19 in the State. 

Of the total single day deaths, one person from Margao brought dead to the South Goa District Hospital was tested positive for the virus, in the post mortem. 

Goa also recorded 639 positive cases and 436 recoveries on Thursday. The total Confirmed Cases is thus recorded at 22,890. Incidentally, the total confirmed cases on September 1 were at 18,006, marking a sharp increase of 4,886 cases in the last days.


Thurday’s health bulletin, (September 10) also saw active cases cross 5,000 with the tally now at 5,030 cases. The overall recovery count is at 17,592.

The health bullet also revealed that a total of 444 persons opted for Home Isolation while 193 suspects are kept in hospital isolation on Thursday.

Out of 545 and 1006 bed capacity at COVID care centres in the North and South districts respectively, 162 beds are vacant in North while 520 beds are vacant in the South. Further, 50 persons have been quarantined across various residencies/hotels, at present. 

Meanwhile, the Goa Human Right Commission reported 1 positive case on Thursday after which officials announced its closure for 3 days for sanitization.
