BICHOLIM: In a late night gambling raid at Maulingem, the Bicholim Police arrested five people and seized cash amounting to Rs 42,000.

According to the police, a raid was conducted following a tip off from unknown sources. On getting the information about the illegal gambling activities taking place, a team comprising of Police Sub Inspectors Prajit Mandrekar, Kishre Ramanand, Head Constable Mukund Pal and Constables Gaurav Vaigankar, Akshay Tirodkar, Devraj Karbotkar and Vijay Karmalkar under the guidance of Police Inspector Mahesh Gadekar rushed to the spot and arrested the five persons involved in gambling and seized cash amount of Rs 42,000.

Meanwhile, Chief Minister Dr Pramod Sawant in a recently convened special joint meeting of the police officials of Bicholim Police Station had directed the then Police Inspector Sanjay Dalvi to stop the gambling activities in the taluka at any cost.
