50th Shramik Express leaves for Arariya

MARGAO: The 50th “Shramik Special train" with 733 passengers on board left from Margao Railway Station for Arariya in Bihar. 

Forty-nine such trains have been run from Goa since their launch on May 8. 

The Konkan Railway has played a significant role in transporting over 71,774 migrants back to their native places in different States till date. 

The Railways have ferried the migrant natives of Jammu & Kashmir, Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Himachal Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand, Bihar, West Bengal, Madhya Pradesh and Odisha. 

Initially, these trains had no scheduled stoppages during the journey, but the Railways now provides three stoppages in the destination States. The boarding passengers are provided with food packets, water bottles, snacks, ORS sachets and other essential items in coordination with the State Government and NGOs. Special Care is given to pregnant women, elderly persons, and children during the boarding procedure. 

Social distancing at the station and inside the trains, compulsory wearing of face masks and hygiene are ensured. Trains and coach interiors are thoroughly sanitised and cleaned for maintaining hygienic travel conditions for passengers. Coaches are provided with liquid soaps for maximum cleanliness during the journey. The Railway Protection Force team escorts the passengers, for a smooth and hassle-free train journey.

Konkan Railway team said it is making all efforts to ensure safe and smooth journey of migrants back to their home States.
